Celebrating 50 Years of Trodat Printy - Printy P1: The Original

02-23-2026
The world's first self-inking stamp.

In 1976, Trodat introduced the world’s first self-inking stamp, the Trodat Printy. It revolutionized what a rubber stamp could be by eliminating the need for a separate ink pad.

To celebrate the Printy’s historic 50th anniversary, we will be looking back at each generation and celebrating some of the other historical milestones that took place that year, beginning with the original, first generation in 1976.

And since we just celebrated the 25th Winter Olympic Games, and the 1st generation Printy scores a perfect 10, it seems only right to start by celebrating another perfect 10 from 1976…

On July 18th a 14-year-old, 5-foot-tall Romanian gymnast named Nadia Comaneci stunned the world at the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal Canada. Nadia scored the first perfect 10 in Olympic history, performing flawlessly on the uneven bars. The scoreboard had to display the score as 1.00 since it was never programmed to show a perfect 10.0, as it was a feat nobody ever thought was possible.

Over the rest of the games, Nadia scored six more perfect 10’s, a record that still stands to this day for the most perfect 10’s by a single athlete at the Olympic games.

In celebration of the multiple perfect 10’s the Printy has scored over the past 50 years, we are offering a drawing for a gift basket and $150 credit towards your next Trodat order.

To enter the drawing, simply email us who your favorite Olympian is (winter or summer) and why they are your favorite. Send your entry to [email protected].

A winner will be drawn at random on March 8th and notified via email and/or phone.
